The eighth Legislative Council election of the Hong Kong SAR was held on December 7, with voting concluding successfully at 11:30 pm on the same day. In this election, 161 candidates contested for 90 seats, with all 90 seats being competitive, meaning no one was elected unopposed. Of the members, 40 are elected by the Election Committee, 30 are elected through functional constituencies, and 20 are elected through geographical direct elections. Among the 90 seats, 50 incumbents have been re-elected, while 40 are new faces.
The new members include: Elaine Chik, Cheung Pui-kong, Christine Fong, Chris Ip, Tam Chun-kwok, Yiu Ming, Chong Ho-fung, Kwok Fu-yung, Chan Pok Chi, Lothair Lam, Nicholas Chan, Webster Ng, Aaron Bok, Julia Lau, Lee Kwong-yu, Lam Wai-kong, Grace Chan, Augustine Wong, Vivian Kong, Lamport Jonathan Stuart, Andrew Yau, Wong Wing-wai, Chung Ki-fung, and Jonathan Leung; Elvin Lee, Ginny Man, Michelle Tang, Keung Lau, Fan Hoi-kit, Thomas So, Hung Kam-in, Steven Ho, Wu Yingpeng, Adrian Ho, Ngai Ming-tak, Andrew Fan, Alan Chan, Albert Chuang, Wong Kam-leung, and Chan Chu-kwong.
