The 2025 Legislative Council (LegCo) Election of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is scheduled for Dec. 7. Several religious leaders in Hong Kong told reporters in interviews that the Legislative Council (LegCo) Election is closely related to the general public. Out of care for family, friends, and the community, Hong Kong citizens should actively vote to elect capable representatives who will help build a harmonious and better Hong Kong society.
Recently, Archbishop Andrew Chan of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui released a video expressing that in the coming years, in the face of post-disaster reconstruction, the LegCo Election, measures for governance and prosperity, the establishment of an international innovation and technology center, the improvement of the homeownership ladder, and the development of the Northern Metropolis, he hopes that citizens will respond and participate with noble sentiments.
Chan described that Hong Kong has much to rebuild in the future, including not only the economy and people's livelihoods but also the spirit of never giving up, the perseverance, resilience, courage, and faith of the Hong Kong people. As long as Hong Kong people unite, even in the face of external challenges and internal difficulties, they will undoubtedly overcome them one by one.
Cardinal Stephen Chow, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, has called on citizens to actively participate in voting, fulfill their civic responsibilities, and elect a new generation of LegCo members with ambition and capability. He stated, "One step we can consider taking is to exercise our civic duty this Sunday, following our individual consciences, to help form the next Legislative Council. Let us pray that the new Legislative Council will work wisely with the government and better fulfill its duties."
