A No. 5 fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po on the afternoon of Nov. 26, resulting in severe casualties.
Today (Dec. 2) marks the 7th day after the fire, and a public memorial service has been held at Kowloon Funeral Parlour. From 10 am to 9 pm, members of the public are invited to pay their respects to the victims by offering flowers, observing a moment of silence, lighting candles, folding ceremonial offerings, and more. A ritual will also take place in the afternoon to pray for the souls of the deceased.
Inside the funeral parlour, there were flower stands and offering tables, as well as areas for people to leave tribute messages and donate to the victims via QR codes. Additionally, a candlelight section was set up for people to light candles and observe a moment of silence in remembrance.
Many members of the public also spontaneously folded lotus flowers, paper money, and other ritual items to honor the victims.
