A deadly No. 5 fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po on November 26, destroying the homes of thousands of citizens. While the disaster is ruthless, love exists among people. Hong Kong citizens have actively reached out to help and organized assistance. A group of students in school uniforms also appeared today (Nov.28) near Kwong Fuk Commercial Centre, volunteering to support the Care Teams and assist with relief efforts, bringing warmth to the disaster victims.

Wong Sum-yau, a 17-year-old Form 6 student from Wong Shiu Chi Secondary School, organized a group of students to assist in disaster relief. She introduced that the team currently consists of about 80 secondary school students, with the youngest only 14 or 15 years old, as well as recent graduates around her age.

"I live in Wang Fuk Court, and on the day of the fire, my whole family happened to be out, so we were not injured," Wong Sum-yau said. Having grown up in Wang Fuk Court, she and her classmates decided to form a team to do something for the disaster victims after school, helping everyone face the difficulties together.

"We received notice that the supply of goods is now sufficient, so there is no need to provide more supplies. However, we are currently most concerned about the lack of manpower here," Wong stated. She mentioned that she recruited many students willing to help through social media and other channels last night. They are prepared to assist with tasks such as serving meals and inventorying supplies, providing help to the Care Teams and volunteers as needed.

Although she has not experienced escaping from the fire scene, Wong Sum-yau's expression turned serious when discussing the fire situation, acknowledging the severity of the disaster. Fortunately, she and other affected residents have received assistance from the government and schools, and she feels deeply moved by the support from all sectors of society during this difficult time.
