No. 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po yesterday (Nov. 26), resulting in multiple casualties. Firefighters are still engaged in firefighting operations. The death toll has risen to 44, with 45 injured individuals in critical condition, and 7 firefighters also reported injured. The seven buildings that caught fire were undergoing scaffolding work, and it is suspected that the external construction materials did not meet fire safety standards. Three responsible individuals from the servicing company have been arrested.
Today (Nov. 27), police conducted evidence-gathering at the Laurels Industrial Centre in Wong Tai Sin in connection with the No. 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court, taking one person away along with a large number of documents.
Reporters at the scene observed that, after a night had passed, the fire had still not been fully extinguished, with visible flames evident inside the building. And a fire erupts in the center of a building. Firefighters are conducting rescues, and survivors, as well as pets, are being brought out. Reports indicate that the fire is gradually coming under control.
The exterior of the first building, Wang Cheong House, has been completely charred. Compared to the lower floors, the windows of the mid to high levels of Wang Cheong House are severely damaged, leaving only the window frames. The upper exterior walls are pitch black, with thick smoke continuously billowing out.
