A fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po at 2:51 pm today (Nov. 26), upgraded to a No. 3 fire at 3:02 pm, and further escalated to No. 4 at 3:34 pm. According to the latest update from the Fire Services Department, the fire was raised to a No. 5 alarm at 6:22 pm.
As of 6 p.m., nine people have been injured in the fire and were sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment. Among them, four have died, three are in critical condition, one is in serious condition, and one is in stable condition.
Regarding the records of Level 5 fires in Hong Kong, the 1996 Garley Building fire in Yau Ma Tei cannot be overlooked. The incident resulted in 41 deaths and 80 injuries, making it the deadliest No. 5 fire since the fire grading system was established.
