Hong Kong's Housing Bureau announced today (Nov. 26) the latest quarterly figures for the average waiting time for public housing. As of the end of September 2025, the average waiting time for general applicants, including family applicants and elderly single applicants, to be allocated traditional public rental housing or "light public housing" remains at 5.1 years.
This continues to be the lowest level since the first quarter of 2018. When compared to the peak of 6.1 years prior to the current administration taking office, the waiting time has been reduced by a full year.
