The Fight Crime Committee (FCC) held the 2025 Fight Crime Conference today (Nov. 22) at the Central Government Offices, with nearly 400 participants discussing law and order and crime-fighting strategies in Hong Kong.
Chief Executive John Lee, officiating at the conference, noted that this year marks the fifth anniversary of the Hong Kong National Security Law, making "promoting and safeguarding national security" a timely theme. He emphasized that stability is essential for Hong Kong's development and reform, highlighting the need for strong national security to address various risks.
The conference focused on issues such as scam prevention and drug abuse, emphasizing the importance of public awareness in combating evolving criminal methods. Lee expressed hope that the FCC and District Fight Crime Committees will continue to support crime prevention efforts.
In his welcoming remarks, Chief Secretary for Administration and FCC Chairperson Chan Kwok-ki acknowledged the FCC's longstanding partnership with the government in ensuring Hong Kong's stability. He encouraged collaboration to make Hong Kong a safer place.
The conference featured three plenary sessions on national security education, drug abuse, and deception, moderated by various officials. In closing, Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung stated that the discussions would be considered for follow-up actions, reaffirming the government's commitment to maintaining public order and enhancing safety.
Additionally, Lee, Chan, and Tang urged the public to vote in the upcoming Legislative Council General Election on December 7 to elect capable representatives for Hong Kong's development. Other officials in attendance included the Secretary for Labour and Welfare and the Acting Commissioner of Police.
