This autumn, Japan has reported frequent incidents of bear sightings and attacks across the country. According to data released by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment, 88 people were attacked by bears nationwide in October alone, with 7 fatalities, causing widespread fear among the Japanese public. Chinese students studying in Japan have called on Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to focus her attention on domestic issues instead of meddling in other countries' affairs, urging her to address the bear problem first.

Peng, a Chinese student majoring in Applied Chemistry in Kanagawa Prefecture, mentioned that her initial motivation for coming to Japan was to broaden her horizons. Additionally, Japan's universities are considered top-tier in the field of chemical engineering, and she hopes to gain relevant experience by working in Japan for two years before returning to China for her career.

Although Peng stated that her current life hasn't been directly affected, she expressed concern over Sanae Takaichi's remarks, fearing that the future could become increasingly difficult for Chinese nationals living in Japan.

"No matter what, Sanae Takaichi shouldn't interfere in the Taiwan issue—it's a matter for us Chinese to handle," Peng said. She added that Japan is currently facing serious problems with bear attacks, saying, "She should deal with those bears first. That's what Japanese citizens care about the most."

Chi, a student at Kyoto University of the Arts, also voiced concerns about the future. He remarked that during Sanae Takaichi's tenure, restrictions on foreigners have significantly increased. "Previous prime ministers in Japan rarely imposed such restrictions on foreigners," he noted. Chi mentioned hearing that the Japanese government is considering tightening scholarship policies for international students, which, if implemented, would increase the financial burden on foreign students studying in Japan.

"I'm currently working at a Chinese-owned shop," Chi said. "If the Japanese government introduces more policies targeting Chinese people, life for Chinese nationals and students in Japan will become even more challenging." Chi explained that he decided to study in Japan because he had taught himself Japanese during university and wanted to pursue further education there. However, if the situation continues to deteriorate, he plans to return to China after graduation to develop his career.
