According to CCTV News reports, Shi Yongxin, the former abbot of the Songshan Shaolin Temple, has been formally arrested on suspicion of multiple financial crimes. Following an investigation designated by the Henan Provincial Public Security Department to the Xinxiang City authorities, the Xinxiang People's Procuratorate approved the arrest decision.
Shi Yongxin faces charges including misappropriation of funds, duty encroachment, and accepting bribes as a non-state functionary. The case developed after the Shaolin Temple Management Committee issued a notice on July 27, alleging that Shi Yongxin had misappropriated temple funds and project assets while seriously violating Buddhist precepts through long-term inappropriate relationships with multiple women, resulting in children born out of wedlock.
The matter is currently under joint investigation by multiple departments, with promises to keep the public informed of developments.
