In a semi-final match at the National Games table tennis men's singles event today (Nov. 15), Lin Shidong delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Yuan Licen with a convincing 4-1 victory to secure his spot in the final for the first time in his career at the Games. The five-game scores were 11-7, 3-11, 11-4, 11-8, and 11-7.
During the post-match interview, Lin praised both players' performances. After losing the second game, he revealed that he consulted with his coach to adjust his game rhythm, which ultimately paid off. Lin also noted that his forehand showed greater stability compared to his backhand during the match.
Looking ahead to the final, where he will face world table tennis champion Fan Zhendong, Lin expressed both excitement and respect. "Facing Fan is an invaluable learning opportunity," Lin said, referring to Fan by his nickname "Dong Ge". "Whether during competitions or regular training, I always find it beneficial to communicate and learn from him."
Lin emphasized that his focus for the final is to maintain a strong mindset and execute his techniques effectively on the court.
