At the 15th National Games, Siobhán Haughey, Hong Kong's "Flying Fish," delivered a dominant performance in the women's 100-meter freestyle heats. Clocking in at an impressive 54.29 seconds, she secured first place and confidently advanced to the semi-finals.
Trailing closely behind was Yang Junxuan of Shandong, the national record holder, who finished second with a time just 0.29 seconds slower than Haughey.
Hong Kong's swim team had an outstanding showing overall, with three swimmers qualifying for the semi-finals.
Lee Sum-yiu finished with a time of 55.40 seconds, placing fourth overall.
Ma Gilaine posted 56.04 seconds, ranking 14th, and also secured a spot in the semi-finals.
The women's 100 m freestyle semi-finals are scheduled to take place tonight at 7:07 PM and are expected to be fiercely contested.
Siobhán Haughey's commanding performance not only highlights her elite status but also boosts team morale as Hong Kong continues to shine at the National Games.
