The swimming competition of the 15th National Games entered its second day today (Nov. 11) with thrilling races and standout performances.

This morning featured five preliminary events, where several athletes showcased their impressive form.

In the men's 100m backstroke preliminaries, Wang Shun secured his place in the semifinals, ranking ninth overall with a time of 56.07 seconds. Asian record holder Xu Jiayu made his debut at the 15th National Games in the same event, topping the preliminaries with a time of 53.40 seconds to advance to the semifinals.

The women's 100m breaststroke preliminaries saw star swimmers Tang Qianting and Ye Shiwen make their first appearances at the Games this year, both qualifying for the semifinals.

In the men's 200m freestyle preliminaries, Xu Haibo delivered the fastest time of 1:48.15, closely followed by Pan Zhanle at 1:48.36. Veteran Sun Yang, the 34-year-old Asian record holder, clocked 1:48.70 to finish fifth, advancing to the semifinals.

Tonight, the competition will heat up with four gold medals up for grabs in the men's 100m breaststroke, women's 100m butterfly, men's 50m butterfly, and women's 200m individual medley. Prominent names such as Qin Haiyang, Zhang Yufei, and Yu Yiting are set to compete, promising an exciting evening of swimming action. The finals will begin at 7:00 p.m., with fans eagerly anticipating the performances of these elite athletes.
