On the morning of November 11, the second day of the National Games swimming events, several star athletes—including Sun Yang, Pan Zhanle, and Zhang Zhanshuo—returned to the pool for the men's 200-meter freestyle heats.
Sun Yang finished third in his heat with a time of 1:48.70, successfully advancing to the semifinals.
"After swimming three events yesterday, I'm really tired today," he said.
Both the 400m and 200m freestyle are demanding races, and as he acknowledged, "I'm getting older—swimming the 400m is more exhausting, and the psychological pressure is higher as well."
Still, he emphasized how much he enjoyed the process of competing, especially racing alongside younger athletes:
"For me, it's both a challenge and a breakthrough."
