The eighth Legislative Council (LegCo) election will be held on December 7. Starting today (Nov. 11), the government is organizing a series of "Patriots Collaborate for Good Governance" 2025 Legislative Council election forums. Erick Tsang, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, stated in a media interview that the atmosphere of the election forums is strong, and he believes they will help voters understand the candidates' platforms, leading to better choices.
Tsang indicated that there would be prior communication procedures with the candidates' teams, and the number of attendees for cheering teams is limited. Additionally, attendees are generally local voters, and arrangements are made randomly. Due to limited seating, the forums will be live-streamed to allow citizens who cannot attend to watch the broadcast and stay informed about the election situation.
Considering this is the government's first time holding large-scale election forums, Tsang remarked that the overall process should be safe and orderly. He also mentioned that, as this is a first attempt, they will need to gather more experience for future arrangements.
The first election forum took place in the morning, featuring five female candidates competing in the New Territories Southwest constituency, actively presenting their platforms, responding to questions, and striving for voter support.
