According to the National Meteorological Center, Typhoon "Fung-wong" has strengthened to super typhoon level early today (Nov. 9). As of 5 am today, the center of "Fung-wong" was located about 530 kilometers east of Manila, Philippines, over the northwestern Pacific Ocean. It is expected to move in a west-northwest direction at a speed of approximately 30 kilometers per hour, with its intensity likely to increase further.
Under the combined effects of the monsoon and "Fung-wong," the weather in Hong Kong will be slightly cooler with strong winds on Tuesday and Wednesday (Nov. 11 and Nov. 12). Additionally, from tonight to tomorrow morning (Nov. 10), there will be rough to very rough seas in the northern and central parts of the South China Sea, with waves reaching 6 to 9 meters. The Taiwan Strait and the waters east of Taiwan will see large to huge waves of 3 to 5 meters; the coastal waters of Fujian will experience large waves of 2.5 to 3.8 meters, while the southern Zhejiang and eastern Guangdong coastal waters will see moderate to large waves of 2 to 3 meters.
