According to reports from the BBC and The Guardian, former England football captain and global sports icon David Beckham was officially knighted by King Charles III during a ceremony held at Windsor Castle on Nov. 4, becoming Sir David Beckham in recognition of his contributions to sports and philanthropy.
Speaking about the honor, Beckham expressed his immense pride and gratitude, calling it "my proudest moment" of his career.
"I've been very obviously lucky in my career to have won what I've...beyond anything that I ever thought that I would receive," Beckham stated. He added that being recognized for both his sporting achievements and his years of charity work was a tremendous privilege.
The Guardian highlighted Beckham's dedication to philanthropy, mentioning his long-term support for various charitable causes. Notably, he has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005.
