Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law on Sunday (Nov. 2) said more than 30 percent of the National Games tickets for Hong Kong events have been sold.
The event is expected to attract nearly 100,000 visitors to Hong Kong, she said.
"More people are available to watch competitions on weekends. For weekdays, when people have to work or go to school, they may decide to take leave to watch their favorite matches," she said.
"It's common for people to buy tickets ahead of the matches during large-scale sports events to experience the atmosphere, and the tickets will always be available for them," she added.
Meanwhile, Law said a sports arena with fencing facilities will likely be established in the Northern Metropolis.
"We have already found a piece of land that is suitable and are currently conducting preliminary research. I hope we can secure funding approval within my term."
She also said the main stadium of Kai Tak Sports Park will have a packed schedule in the future, and that authorities are reviewing venue applications for 2027.
