"World's Best Hotel" and "World's Best Bar" are both in Hong Kong! Following Bar Leone in Central being crowned the world's top 1 in the "World's 50 Best Bars" earlier, Rosewood HK in Tsim Sha Tsui has also claimed the top spot in the recently announced "World's 50 Best Hotels".
Yesterday (Oct. 31), reporters from Ta Kung Pao visited Rosewood HK and Bar Leone to capture the atmosphere. Coinciding with Halloween, many customers were dressed up in costumes. Some tourists commented that their travel experiences in HK have been delightful.
This year's "World's 50 Best Hotels" list was unveiled in London yesterday, with Rosewood HK taking the top position, surpassing Bangkok's Capella Hotel. This marks a two-place climb from last year's ranking and the third consecutive year it has made the list.
Other HK hotels that made the list include The Upper House in Tai Koo (ranked 10th) and Mandarin Oriental HK in Central (ranked 41st). Additionally, The Peninsula HK in Tsim Sha Tsui (ranked 54th) and the Four Seasons Hotel HK in Central (ranked 86th) were included in the extended list.
A testament to HK's pursuit of excellence and innovation
Sonia Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, stated that Rosewood HK, as the flagship of the Rosewood brand, being ranked on the list for three consecutive years and now claiming the top spot is highly significant. It not only highlights the group's commitment to innovation and exceptional guest services but also underscores HK's spirit of striving for excellence and creativity. Four Rosewood hotels have been included in this year's "World's 50 Best Hotels", with three others featured in the extended list.
Last night, Ta Kung Pao reporters visited Rosewood HK and observed numerous tourists from the mainland and overseas. Many were dressed in Halloween costumes, celebrating the occasion.
Eckert, a tourist from Germany, shared that it was his first time staying at Rosewood HK, and he believes the hotel deserves its world-class recognition. He praised the staff for their warm hospitality, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the stunning views. Having visited HK four times, he remarked that this hotel offers a unique experience unmatched by others, making his stay in HK even more enjoyable.
Rosewood HK has hosted numerous dignitaries, influential business figures, and celebrities. Earlier this year, the reigning English Premier League champions Liverpool stayed at the hotel while participating in a football event in HK, drawing many fans to catch a glimpse of the players.
Bar Leone founder: The honor belongs to the city
The "World's 50 Best Bars", also organized by the same group behind the World's 50 Best Hotels, held its awards ceremony in HK for the first time on Oct. 8 at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. Bar Leone was crowned the world's best bar, becoming the first Asian bar to top the list since its inception.
Lorenzo Antinori, the founder of Bar Leone, expressed that this world-class honor belongs not only to them but also to HK, affirming the city's position at the forefront of the global bar scene through its innovation and hospitality.
At around 10 p.m. last night, Ta Kung Pao reporters visited Bar Leone, where many customers were already waiting to be seated. Among them were Halloween celebrants in costumes. Bar staff shared that the bar is almost always fully booked, and with Halloween coinciding with the weekend, the number of customers exceeded that of regular days. The staff expressed their excitement over the bar's recognition as the world's best and their joy in seeing customers enjoying themselves to the fullest.
Karen, a visitor from the Philippines, visited Bar Leone last night with her friends for the fourth time. She shared that each visit required at least an hour's wait. She praised the bar's uniqueness, the friendliness of the staff, and the variety of drinks offered, particularly its signature cocktails, which she found delightful and enjoyable.
The "World's 50 Best Hotels" list, launched in 2023 by the globally authoritative organization behind the "50 Best", has become a prestigious guide in the international hotel industry.
This year's results were determined by a voting panel of over 800 hotel experts worldwide, including seasoned industry professionals, travel writers, and global travelers. During the voting process, each panelist was required to submit a list of seven hotels based on personal preferences and actual stays within the past 24 months. This year's ranking also expanded to include a Top 100 list for the first time.
