Today (Oct. 23) marks the final day of the Legislative Council session, with all members gathering for breakfast in the banquet hall this morning. During the event, the legislators presented Legislative Council President Andrew Leung with a greeting card signed by all members of the Legislative Council. After breakfast, Andrew Leung expressed his happiness at receiving the card.
As the legislators departed, each carried a card from Andrew Leung addressed to all members. The card featured hand-drawn portraits of all 89 legislators and the interior of the Legislative Council chamber, inscribed with the words: To the Members of the Seventh Legislative Council: United in Service to the Public.
It is reported that during breakfast, legislators reviewed their work over the past few years, and footage of the Legislative Council passing the "Safeguarding National Security Ordinance" was screened. Liberal Party member Peter Shiu mentioned that all legislators are grateful to President Andrew Leung for his leadership in guiding the Council through numerous challenges and extended a wish for his happy retirement. He also noted that the atmosphere this morning was very positive, describing it as "joyful and smiling," with everyone in high spirits.
