Hong Kong's winter IP character festival, "Merry Balloon HK", will take place from Nov. 24, 2025, to Jan. 4, 2026, spanning both Christmas and New Year holidays!
The event incorporates augmented reality (AR) technology, allowing the public to spot 20 popular characters "appearing" on the streets. The highlight of the festival is HK's first-ever large-scale IP character balloon parade, scheduled for Dec. 28, which will feature giant balloons of 20 beloved characters. The parade is free for the public to watch.
The festival is centered around three core themes: "Merry Balloon Parade", "Merry Balloon Park", and "Merry-Go-Around Town".
The "Merry Balloon Parade" will be held on Dec. 28 at the Art Park in the West Kowloon Cultural District. The parade will showcase nearly 20 giant IP character balloons, traveling along the waterfront to the HK Palace Museum and M+.
The organizers are giving away 200 free tickets, allowing participants to enjoy premium viewing spots for the parade. From now until Nov. 4, the public can register via the official "Merry Balloon HK" Instagram account by guessing the IP characters featured in the event. The first 100 participants to answer correctly will each receive two free tickets to view the parade on Dec. 28.
