Hong Kong's skyline, authentic cuisine, and friendly residents—what do international visitors believe is the best "postcard" the city can present to the world?
As the opening of the 15th National Games, jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, approaches, we took to the streets to listen to the genuine voices of travelers from the United States, France, Argentina, and beyond. We heard them talk about their favorite athletes—from Yao Ming to Siobhán Haughey—and describe their ideal event experiences: perhaps a free outdoor broadcast, a cultural festival blending music and markets, or simply gathering with friends by the waterfront to share in the excitement of competition under the night sky of Victoria Harbour.
Their choices reflect not only their sports preferences but also weave a rich tapestry of a diverse, open, and warm-hearted Hong Kong: modern yet full of warmth, where children eagerly take photos with tourists, and passersby are eager to offer directions. These small moments, juxtaposed against the bustling skyline, create a more nuanced and heartfelt postcard of the city.
In this grand event blending sports and culture, Hong Kong is ready to showcase not just the competitions, but also the unique openness and humanity of this city.
