At the 2025 Tianjin SCO summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed a "Global Governance Initiative," which upholds the core principles of adhering to sovereign equality, abiding by the international rule of law, upholding multilateralism, advocating for a people-centered approach, and focusing on real results, providing a Chinese solution for improving the global governance system.
The initiative emphasizes respect for all countries' sovereignty, maintaining the United Nations' core position, promoting multipolar development, and fostering pragmatic actions in areas such as infrastructure development and climate change through cooperation with the SCO, BRICS, and others.
This initiative aligns with China's previous Global Development, Global Security, and Global Civilization Initiatives, showcasing China's proactive stance in global governance. However, in the face of complex changes in the current international landscape, how will China address the challenges of unilateralism and hegemonic politics? In this episode, Dr. Henry Ho will introduce how this initiative can gather global consensus and bring about a new model of governance that is fairer and more effective for the world.
