A viral online video has captured the moment Hong Kong police intercepted an African man at Yuen Long MTR Station and uncovered a significant drug haul. The footage shows several officers inspecting a suitcase belonging to the suspect, which was found to contain numerous brick-shaped objects.
The operation took place around 11 pm on Oct. 11, when officers noticed a foreign man acting suspiciously near Exit G of the station. Upon inspection, approximately 13 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of HK$9.5 million were discovered in his luggage.
In the video, two officers can be seen restraining the 51-year-old Nigerian national against a wall while two others examine the suitcase's contents. The packages, wrapped in tin foil and black plastic, were carefully opened with a cutter knife for evidence collection before being placed in exhibit bags.
Police confirmed that the arrested man holds a "Recognizance Form" (commonly known as a "walking paper"). The seizure totaled about 12 drug bricks weighing approximately 13 kilograms. Authorities believe another suspect remains at large and are actively investigating the case, which has been transferred to the Yuen Long District Crime Squad.
Under Hong Kong's Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a HK$5 million fine. Police have reiterated their zero-tolerance stance against all drug-related activities.
