
Today (Oct. 1) marks the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government held flag-raising ceremonies and National Day receptions this morning at the Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate the occasion. Deputy Secretary for Administration, Cheuk Wing-hing, posted on social media that he and other officials had breakfast at a tea restaurant in Wan Chai that is offering National Day discounts. He noted that over 3,000 restaurants are providing special offers during the holiday and encouraged everyone to take advantage of these opportunities and enjoy the National Day celebrations.
Cheuk mentioned that after attending the flag-raising ceremony and reception for the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China this morning, he, along with the Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Michael Wong, the Deputy Secretary for Justice, Horace Cheung, and the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Erick Tsang, went to a tea restaurant in Wan Chai offering a 30% discount on all items for the National Day, where they enjoyed a Hong Kong-style breakfast.


Cheuk shared that the four of them each ordered their favorite breakfast. The total price for the four breakfasts was HK$180, but with the 30% discount, it came to only HK$126. The restaurant was bustling with patrons, as many citizens took the opportunity to enjoy an affordable and delicious breakfast during the National Day holiday.
Cheuk stated that this year, many businesses responded to the government's call by launching various promotions and activities for National Day, with restaurants reaching a record high of over 3,000 participating. He expressed his gratitude and encouragement. He urged everyone to seize the opportunity and go out with family and friends to enjoy the various offers available during the National Day celebrations.
