An awkward moment unfolded in the Oval Office on Sept. 5 when US President Donald Trump mistook a folded American flag for a blanket during a bill signing ceremony.
According to The Daily Beast, the incident occurred when Representative John Rose of Tennessee presented Trump with a folded US flag as a gift.
Rose handed over the flag, which was enclosed in a transparent plastic bag, and explained, "I'd like to leave you with this gift from a constituent back in Tennessee." Trump, however, misunderstood and remarked, "Oh, I could use that at night," thinking it was a blanket.
The remark drew laughter from those present, prompting Rose to clarify, "It's an American flag." Realizing the mistake, Trump responded, "It's very nice, I like that. Thank you very much."
