The ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War is taking place. Today (September 3), Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan welcomed the heads of foreign delegations and their spouses at the Square outside the Duan Gate, and then ascended to the Tiananmen Rostrum.
Also present at the Tiananmen Rostrum today were some veterans who participated in the war, including 94-year-old Luo Jinghui, a veteran of the Southern China People's Counter-Japanese Guerrilla Force from Hong Kong. Xi Jinping warmly shook hands with the veteran representatives, expressing his high respect for them.
