The Immigration Department continues to carry out operations against illegal labor across various regions in Hong Kong. Over two days (from Aug. 20 to Aug. 21), they searched more than 50 targeted locations, including restaurants, massage parlors, hotel rooms, and outdoor filming sites, resulting in the arrest of 12 individuals. This includes 9 suspected illegal workers, one employer suspected of hiring illegal workers, and two individuals who assisted and incited these activities.
Among those arrested, 5 individuals from the Mainland and 2 from Hong Kong were involved in a makeup photography case. It was revealed that Mainland makeup artists and photographers promoted their services on social media platforms, claiming they could come to Hong Kong to provide services. Some rented hotel rooms in Hong Kong as temporary "makeup studios," attracting customers at prices as low as HK$80, and collaborated with local Hong Kong makeup artists and photographers. Photos provided by the Immigration Department show that the relevant social media platform is "Xiaohongshu," with fees for services such as certificate registration, wedding photography, and event photography ranging from RMB 999 to RMB 2,699.
In addition, a 57-year-old Hong Kong woman, who is the manager of a restaurant, was arrested for allegedly hiring illegal workers. The Immigration Department will conduct a thorough investigation into the employers suspected of hiring these illegal workers, and further arrests cannot be ruled out.
