
According to CCTV News, on Aug. 11 (local time), the Venezuelan Supreme Court issued a statement strongly opposing and condemning the U.S. government's actions targeting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, including the increased bounty and alleged infringements.
The statement accused the U.S. of attempting to undermine Venezuela's democracy through smear campaigns, calling it an interference in Venezuela's internal affairs, a blatant violation of international law, and an infringement on national sovereignty.
The Supreme Court emphasized Venezuela's firm stance on combating terrorism, organized crime, and drug trafficking. It also reiterated its unwavering support for President Maduro and the Venezuelan people in defending the nation's interests and sovereignty.
On Aug. 8, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the U.S. government had increased the reward for information leading to Maduro's capture to 50 million, doubling the previous amount of 50 million, doubling the previous amount of 25 million. Bondi also stated that the U.S. Department of Justice had seized over US$700 million in assets allegedly linked to Maduro.
