According to a report by CCTV News on Aug. 6, The Stanford Daily, Stanford University's student newspaper, along with two unnamed students, has filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration. The lawsuit accuses the administration of violating free speech rights by threatening to deport international students for expressing opinions deemed "anti-American or anti-Israel."

The complaint claims that several foreign students at Stanford have refrained from writing articles about the Middle Eastern conflict or participating in protests due to fears of arrest or deportation.

The Trump administration has previously categorized students holding pro-Palestinian views as "extremist sympathizers," sparking widespread controversy. Some detained students have already been released under court orders.

In response, Stanford University stated that The Stanford Daily is an independent organization and that the school is not a party to the lawsuit.
