Hong Kong residents' holiday exodus to the mainland for shopping and dining was disrupted this morning (Aug 2) when a sudden two-hour black rainstorm hit the city. As rain gradually eased in some areas in the afternoon, eager drivers set off for their journeys. By nearly 3 pm, vehicle queues stretching over 500 meters had formed at the Zhuhai immigration checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, with waiting times exceeding 40 minutes.
According to forecasts from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Unified information Release Platform, today's (Aug 2) peak inbound traffic hours are between 10 am and 3 pm, while the peak outbound period is expected tomorrow (August 3) from 3 pm to 11 pm.
