Former Hong Kong football player Tommy Chuck Yiu-kwok, who has prior convictions for assaulting his live-in girlfriend, criminal damage (paint-throwing), and drug offenses, has been charged with extortion in a new case.
The incident occurred after Chuck, 31, allegedly borrowed a luxury watch from a woman he met on a dating app following a sexual encounter. He later demanded HK$100,000 for its return. When the victim and three male friends met him outside Wetland Seasons Park in Tin Shui Wai on June 1, 2025, a physical altercation broke out, leading to the arrest of all four men.
At their first court appearance yesterday at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Court, Chuck was charged with one count of blackmail for unlawfully demanding HK$100,000 from Woman X through intimidation.
The three other men (aged 27–34) faced charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm for allegedly attacking Chuck during the confrontation.
Magistrate adjourned the case to August 29, pending Chuck's medical reports. All defendants were granted bail.
The unemployed ex-athlete served jail time previously for domestic violence, property destruction, and drug-related crimes.
