Directed by Shen Ao and starring Liu Haoran and Wang Chuanjun, "Dead To Rights" tells the story of a group of ordinary citizens during the Nanjing Massacre. Within seven days of release, the film amassed over RMB 900 million in total revenue, with more than 25 million admissions. Its momentum has only continued, quickly propelling it past the RMB 1 billion milestone.
Regional data indicates an especially enthusiastic response from audiences in the Yangtze River Delta. As of midnight on July 30, Shanghai and Nanjing both recorded box office revenues exceeding RMB 25 million, leading the nationwide city rankings. With its compelling storyline, outstanding performances, and profound historical significance, the film has garnered widespread acclaim. It currently holds a score of 8.5 on Douban, based on over 28,000 reviews.
In August, the movie will premiere in Hong Kong. Between August and September, the film will also debut in theaters across Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, Malaysia, and Singapore.
