On July 30 local time, a strong earthquake struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East, prompting tsunami warnings from both the United States and Japan. According to CCTV News, citing the latest information from the Japan Meteorological Agency, the tsunami has reached multiple locations in Hokkaido, including Nemuro City, Kushiro City, Tokachi River, and Hamanaka Town, all of which reported tsunami waves.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba urged coastal residents to remain in evacuation mode until the tsunami warning is lifted.

The Japan Meteorological Agency confirmed that the first wave of the tsunami reached Nemuro City around 10:17 am local time, with the maximum wave height observed at approximately 0.3 meters. Around 10:30 am, the first wave hit Kushiro City, and by 10:51 am, a tsunami measuring 0.4 meters was observed at Tokachi Port. Authorities indicated that the duration of the tsunami warning would be extended, and it could take half a day to a full day to lift the warning.

Shigeru Ishiba stated that the impact of the tsunami is currently being assessed and urged coastal residents to remain in evacuation mode until the warning is lifted. The Japanese Ministry of Defense has deployed fighter jets and helicopters to gather tsunami information over the Pacific coast.

Due to the tsunami alert, Sendai International Airport in Miyagi Prefecture has been closed, and train services in some coastal areas have also been suspended.
