Typhoon Wipha has just left Hong Kong, and the city may soon experience a "dual typhoon." The Hong Kong Observatory issued a special weather advisory this afternoon (July 23), stating that a low-pressure area near Luzon has strengthened into a tropical depression and is within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong. According to current forecasts, the tropical depression is expected to linger in the northern Luzon area over the next couple of days and gradually intensify before generally moving toward the waters east of Taiwan. It is anticipated that this tropical cyclone will remain over 600 kilometers away from Hong Kong, posing little direct threat to the city.
Additionally, the tropical storm Francisco, currently located east of the Luzon Strait, is expected to cross the waters around the Ryukyu Islands in the next couple of days before moving toward the southeastern coast of China. Based on the predicted path, Francisco is expected to maintain tropical storm strength over the next few days and will approach the 800-kilometer boundary from Hong Kong by Sunday (July 27).
