According to the official "Harry Potter" Weibo account, HBO's original Harry Potter series has officially started filming, with the first look of the new Harry Potter unveiled. Dominic McLaughlin, who takes on the iconic role of Harry Potter, is seen wearing a wizard's robe in the newly released image.

The casting for the "Golden Trio" was announced earlier, with Arabella Stanton playing Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout portraying the red-haired Ron Weasley. It was revealed that HBO launched an open casting call for the roles in the fall of last year, receiving more than 32,000 applications. Approximately 32,000 children from Ireland and the UK auditioned for the coveted roles.

HBO has promised that the series will be a "faithful adaptation" of J.K. Rowling's beloved book series, aiming to explore every corner of the magical world. Each season will bring Harry Potter's incredible adventures to both new and long-time fans.
The first season of the Harry Potter series is expected to wrap filming in spring 2026 and will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in 2027.
