A prophecy made by Japanese manga artist Ryo Tatsuki in "The Future I Saw," predicting a massive earthquake on July 5, 2025, has triggered panic among overseas tourists, leading many people in Hong Kong to cancel their trips to Japan. Taking precautions to avoid potential tsunamis, some individuals have even gone as far as camping in the mountains to prepare for the worst.

One netizen, posting in a Facebook discussion group, revealed on Tuesday (July 1) that they had already set up camp two weeks earlier, on June 20, to prepare for long-term survival. The post was captioned, "July, the month of the apocalypse, has arrived. We've been here in the mountains for two weeks. Supplies are sufficient, there's a natural water source nearby, and we've conducted several high-ground evacuation drills. The MREs (military rations) actually taste pretty good." The poster added, "We're ready for a long-term fight. If no earthquake occurs, we'll descend in mid-July to restock supplies and only consider leaving by the end of August when things seem stable."

The account, active since June 21, has shared multiple updates and photos of their camping setup, leading many to believe the group began their "evacuation" on June 20, two weeks before the prophesized date. In their post, the author also expressed concerns about potentially never seeing the same cityscape again: "We must cherish the chance to see the glittering lights of the city at night. In a few days, it could all be dark, with tsunamis drowning the city."

The post sparked heated discussions online. Some commenters dismissed the actions as over-the-top, saying, "Just kids finding an excuse to go camping. Let them play!", "It's just a regular camping trip, no need to overthink it," and "Honestly, I hope nothing happens, and this just turns into a fun outdoor adventure for you guys." Others remarked sarcastically, "This is like an end-of-the-world survival game," and "You might as well head to the Himalayas to be safe."

The manga artist Ryo Tatsuki had earlier warned of a major disaster on July 5, 2025. However, in recent days, she has softened her stance, stating that "nothing significant may happen on that day." Despite this clarification, many continue to prepare for the worst, adhering to the belief, "better safe than sorry."
