Starting July 1, Asahi Beverage Company announced a pilot program for a "Calpis Tap" at the HOTEL VISON resort in Mie Prefecture. Guests can enjoy free, freshly mixed Calpis drinks by simply turning on a dedicated tap in the hotel lobby. The initiative is expected to run until September 30.
According to the Mainichi Shimbun, the "Calpis Tap" has a capacity of 18 liters. By adding three 1-liter bottles of Calpis concentrate to water, the tap can serve approximately 100 to 150 cups per use. The system features mixing and cooling functions to ensure chilled drinks are dispensed every time the tap is used.
The company noted that in preliminary tests conducted in 2024, over 95% of participants indicated they would be more likely to choose accommodations with such a facility in the future. Asahi plans to expand this setup to ten hotels and hot spring facilities across Japan by 2025, with a formal rollout scheduled to begin in 2026. The goal is to install 1,000 taps nationwide by 2030, creating a new beverage experience and fostering social interactions.
