Chief Executive John Lee posted on social media that today (June 26) at Government House, he welcomed the vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Xian Hui to come to Hong Kong for guidance, and met with officials of the SAR government and people from all walks of life to hold talks, thanking the central government for its attention to the members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Hong Kong and patriotic groups.
John Lee stated that members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Hong Kong are part of key national organizations, embodying patriotism and love for Hong Kong. They unite elites from various sectors and play a vital role in national affairs. He noted that to enhance communication, a regular exchange mechanism was established after he took office, with the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau overseeing interactions with the National People's Congress (NPC) and CPPCC representatives. This mechanism has facilitated discussions on numerous topics, allowing the SAR government to receive support from the NPC and CPPCC, explain policies, and incorporate their feedback. The CPPCC has supported the government's initiatives and helped promote new policies, leading to effective collaboration.
Lee expressed gratitude for the strong backing from the NPC and CPPCC in Hong Kong, which has positively influenced governance and provided valuable insights. The SAR Government will continue to foster exchanges with the NPC, CPPCC, and provincial committee members, enhancing communication and cooperation to harness the collective strength of those who love both the country and Hong Kong for a better future.
