The highly anticipated first round of auditions for "Miss Hong Kong 2025" commenced today (June 24) at TVB's Tseung Kwan O studio, following nearly a month of contestant recruitment. Participants from diverse backgrounds gathered to compete, with the organizers requiring contestants to bring their own bikinis and high heels while prohibiting colored or enlarging contact lenses to ensure participants present their most natural selves.
This year's contestants boast a wide range of intriguing backgrounds, sparking significant public interest. One of the standout participants was Angel Chong, a 24-year-old appointed District Council (DC) member from Sai Kung, who introduced herself to the media using her English name. She received attention as the youngest DC member currently serving in HK.
Another highlight was Fandi, who claimed to be the 35th-generation descendant of the Chinese national hero Yue Fei. She told reporters that her decision to participate stemmed from a desire to challenge herself and draw inspiration from her ancestor's legacy.

The auditions also saw participation from several mainland contestants, including Zhao Qianhui, a 24-year-old Shandong native with a master's degree in business from Lingnan University in HK. Though her Cantonese is still a work in progress, Zhao impressed the media with her sweet smile and gentle demeanor. She explained that after graduating in 2023, she has been exploring career paths and joined the pageant to discover new opportunities, expressing gratitude for her family's unwavering support.

Following media interviews, contestants proceeded to the audition stage, where a judging panel led by TVB executives Virginia Lok and Stella Ho evaluated them across various criteria, including poise, communication skills, and adaptability. As the first round concluded, the public now eagerly awaits the announcement of the shortlisted candidates. The competition continues to captivate audiences as they follow the journey to crown the next "Miss HK."
