The Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) has officially begun the digitalization of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) as of today, June 15. Penalty tickets for illegal parking and traffic violations will now be issued electronically. Additionally, the "eTraffic Ticket Platform" has been launched, including a thematic portal and mobile app, allowing vehicle owners and drivers to conveniently verify and manage their penalty tickets.
Electronic penalty tickets (ePTs) will be sent based on the verified contact information provided by offenders to the Transport Department—SMS tickets for those with a Hong Kong mobile number and email tickets for those who submitted an email address. Printed paper tickets will still be issued to individuals who have not provided their verified contact details.
Initially, the HKPF will implement a "dual-track" system where offenders will receive both ePTs and printed tickets, with fines able to be settled via either method. This transitional measure encourages the public to use ePTs.
The Platform's thematic portal (www.etrafficticket.gov.hk) and mobile app allow users to view, verify, and pay fines using electronic payment methods like the Faster Payment System and credit cards. Updated formats for penalty tickets now include new payment information.

The HKPF also offers anti-deception tips:
- All SMS tickets will come from the sender name "#HKPF-eTT"; messages from other senders are likely fraudulent.
- SMS and email tickets will not contain hyperlinks; the public should remain cautious and avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing personal details.
- The official Platform domain ends in ".gov.hk"; any site that does not is not a government website.
The HKPF will monitor the digitalization process and public adaptation, collecting feedback to assess the "dual-track" system's effectiveness and future enhancements for the Platform.
