At 2 am on Saturday (June 14), Aiwen, a local Chinese living in San Gabriel, Los Angeles, was still browsing the news on her phone. She told reporters that the peaceful protests against the raid by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency on the streets of Los Angeles have gradually escalated since the 6th and have turned into riots for several days. At first, they were quite worried. "My friend and I are cooperating to open a restaurant here. We are very worried about being impacted. We even suspended business for a while to take precautions."

However, after a few days of observation, the Chinese residential area far away from the city center is very peaceful. "Occasionally during the day, you can hear the sound of helicopters. There is no impact." Aiwen told reporters that the night before California announced a curfew on the 11th, she and her friends drove to the city center to see the situation at the time, but found that many places were under martial law, and the streets were full of National Guard personnel and police. She has been browsing the news on her phone these days, but in fact, the chaos in Los Angeles is limited to a few blocks in the city center, and most areas are relatively peaceful.

"The police arrested illegal immigrants who had radical behavior. In fact, we all think this is a party dispute. Politicians are doing things for their own interests. Ordinary people should just live their own lives and not take it too seriously." Aiwen said, "My restaurant closed for two days and then reopened normally. There are still many customers, and suppliers can supply goods normally every day. I went shopping in the supermarket, and there was no shortage of goods. The residents living in the curfew area in the city center should be the most affected." Her friends who live in the curfew area said that they have to bring their ID cards when they go out in case of inspection at any time, and they must go home before 8 pm.

Many Mexican immigrants working in the catering, express delivery, and other service industries dare not go to work recently, let alone stay on the streets, which makes them feel that life is very inconvenient. However, Aiwen also admitted that she had to remain vigilant, "Accidents may happen at any time. I stock up on food and water at home and try not to go to the city center during this period. Like local Americans, we don't want the chaos to escalate or expand."
