Hong Kong Airlines announced adjustments to its Japan-bound flight schedules due to persistently low travel demand. Starting July, the airline will suspend flights to Kagoshima and Kumamoto and reduce services to Nagoya. The Nagoya route will be further suspended starting September.

Travel platforms reported on June 11 that HK Airlines will halt flights to Kagoshima and Kumamoto in July and August. Services to Nagoya will be reduced to one flight per week during the same period, with no flights available from September onward. A search on the airline's website confirmed the absence of flights to Kagoshima and Kumamoto starting July, as well as limited availability for Nagoya routes.

HK Airlines explained that these changes are due to weak demand for travel to Japan, exacerbated by recent concerns over the potential "Nankai Trough Megaquake." Affected passengers may opt for alternative destinations serviced by the airline, including other Japanese cities, the Chinese Mainland, Bangkok, and Da Nang. Passengers who prefer a full refund will receive compensation in the form of cash vouchers.

The airline apologized for the inconvenience caused by the schedule adjustments and promised to assist affected passengers in rearranging their travel plans. To optimize its fleet utilization, HK Airlines will continue expanding its network. On June 20, the airline will launch a new route to Sydney and plans to add more destinations in the Chinese Mainland.

Additionally, during the summer peak travel season, the company will increase flight frequencies to popular destinations such as Vientiane, the Maldives, Da Nang, Bangkok, Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Shanghai to offer travelers more options.
