
Hong Kong Chief Executive John announced today (June 10) that the city will host a wide range of celebratory activities and public benefits on July 1st, marking the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
Lee said over 100 events will take place across all 18 districts, including flag-raising ceremonies, parades, carnivals, evening galas, and sports events. The government will also launch extensive discounts and free offers for the public to enjoy the festive occasion with friends and family.
🚇 Transport and Leisure Benefits
MTR will give away 71,000 electronic tickets via lottery. Winners can use the ticket for one free ride on designated local routes within six months.
On July 1st:
- Star Ferry rides between Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai will be free.
- New World First Ferry and Fortune Ferry routes will be free with vouchers.
- Tram rides will be free for three consecutive days.
- Airport Express: Children aged 3–11 ride free; seniors aged 60+ enjoy half-price fares.
🏛️ Free Access to Attractions
Free admission to many LCSD recreational facilities, the Hong Kong Science Museum, Space Museum, Wetland Park, Hong Kong Palace Museum, and M+ exhibitions.
Ocean Park offers ticket discounts:
- 20% off for two visitors
- 30% off for groups of three to four (valid until July 3)
- Ngong Ping 360: Children and seniors enjoy 72% off standard round-trip tickets on July 1st.
- Peak Tram combo tickets are available at 15% off
🍽️ Dining and Retail Promotions
- Over 1,000 restaurants and shops will offer special deals on July 1st.
- Discounts and gifts will be available at four FEHD wet markets and Housing Authority malls.
- From July 1–7, selected products on the local farm-to-table app will be sold at 29% off.
- Environmental Protection Department’s “GREEN@COMMUNITY” recycling centers will offer double reward points on July 1st.
These initiatives aim to foster a joyful and united atmosphere across the city, encouraging residents to take part in both celebration and environmentally friendly practices.
