According to CCTV News, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported on June 9 that at least 50 people were arrested during protests in downtown Los Angeles on June 7 and 8. The demonstrations were sparked by the Trump administration's immigration crackdown, which has escalated tensions across the city.
In addition to the arrests, five police officers and five LAPD horses sustained minor injuries during clashes with protesters. The LAPD confirmed that non-lethal methods were used to disperse the crowds, with over 600 rounds of non-lethal bullets deployed during the protests.
The unrest has prompted the city to enter a "tactical alert" status. On June 9, the US Department of Defense announced that, under orders from President Donald Trump, an additional 2,000 National Guard troops would be deployed to Los Angeles to assist in maintaining order.
The first wave of 300 California National Guard personnel has already been stationed, while another 500 US Marine Corps members remain on standby. Protesters on the ground expressed frustration, questioning the necessity of such a heavy military presence. One demonstrator remarked, "We want to express our opinions peacefully, but is it really necessary for the Trump administration to send troops against us?"
