Today (June 9), the Academic Symposium on One Country, Two Systems organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was held in Beijing with the theme "a five years of review and outlook on the implementation of the Law of the People's Repubilc of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region." Nearly 100 guests, experts, and scholars from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, as well as from countries including the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Malaysia, participated in the conference.

Experts and scholars attending the meeting widely agree that "one country, two systems" provides Chinese wisdom and solutions for the peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation of different social systems. It is a significant contribution to human political civilization, and its success is praised as a demonstration of overcoming Cold War thinking and building a community with a shared future for mankind. Scholars attending the meeting stated that in today's world, where chaos and disorder are intertwined, the values of peace, inclusiveness, openness, and sharing inherent in "one country, two systems" are increasingly precious.

Guests and experts reviewed and looked ahead at the practice of the Hong Kong National Security Law over the past five years. They used a wealth of facts and data to explain the comprehensive and fundamental role and impact of the Hong Kong National Security Law in reversing the chaos in Hong Kong, safeguarding the practice of "one country, two systems," and promoting economic development and the protection of human rights in Hong Kong.
