Polyphony Digital announced a collaboration with Xiaomi, where the Xiaomi smart electric vehicle SU7 Ultra successfully debuts in the classic racing game Gran Turismo 7, becoming the first Chinese car ever featured in the history of the game.
Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, emphasized that Gran Turismo enjoys a high reputation in the global racing simulation community, attracting the attention of numerous car enthusiasts. He believes that having the SU7 Ultra featured on this platform is a significant affirmation of Xiaomi's automotive product capabilities.
Kazunori Yamauchi, the producer of Gran Turismo, visited Beijing in May for in-depth discussions with Lei Jun and Xiaomi's management team. During the visit, he experienced the SU7 Ultra's actual driving performance on the track at Xiaomi's super factory in Yizhuang, Beijing. Yamauchi pointed out that Xiaomi has gradually built a comprehensive smart ecosystem from smartphones, home appliances to smart wearable devices, and the introduction of the SU7 series cars indicates Xiaomi's entry into a new stage in manufacturing. The prototype of the SU7 Ultra successfully broke the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record, further validating its performance level.
Yamauchi expressed that he was deeply moved by the courage, curiosity, and passion demonstrated by the Xiaomi automotive team, believing that this persistence aligns well with the ultimate pursuit of Gran Turismo. He highly praised the technical performance of the SU7 Ultra in the global smart electric vehicle market and stated that the car's ability to challenge the Nürburgring track demonstrates Xiaomi's strong capabilities in the luxury performance car field.
