Xiaomi launches world's fastest four-door SU7 Ultra with 3,600 orders in 10 minutes
Xiaomi on Tuesday night (Oct. 29) announced the SU7 Ultra, the luxury version of the SU7 series, for the first time at a press conference, with a price tag starting at RMB 814,900.
"This is the world's fastest four-door mass-produced car currently available," Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said, adding "When people ask why we created such a powerful machine, my answer is simple, we're building a dream car."
Ahead of Tuesday's event, the SU7 Ultra prototype had successfully set a new record lap time for four-door cars at Germany's grueling Nurburgring track, achieving a single lap of 6 minutes 46 seconds 874 seconds before the road surface was completely dry, becoming the "fastest four-door car" in the world.
Xiaomi has said it aims to deliver 120,000 SU7 vehicles by year-end. The first SU7 Ultras will be delivered in March. It began taking orders on Tuesday and said it had received more than 3,600 in the 10 minutes after the performance car's debut.
Xiaomi's EV deliveries in China have topped 10,000 per month since June and hit a high of more than 20,000 vehicles in October.
