On the evening of June 6, a Chinese male tourist was slashed by a man with a knife in a sudden attack on a street in the center of Kyoto, Japan.
It is reported that the incident occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. on June 6, near the busy Gojo Bridge intersection in Kyoto City's Shimogyo-ku. According to NHK and Kyoto Shimbun, the 37-year-old Chinese male tourist was walking with a Chinese tour group of about 20 tourists. They had just finished eating at a nearby restaurant before the incident.

According to Kyoto Shimbun, citing a statement from the Shimogyo Police Station in Kyoto Prefecture, the victim's wound was a 15-centimeter-long slash, and another media report said he was "stabbed in the right shoulder."
Late at night on June 7, the Chinese Embassy in Japan issued a message reminding Chinese citizens in Japan, especially visitors to Japan, to strengthen safety precautions.
"According to Japanese media reports, on the night of June 6, a Chinese tourist was attacked and injured by a strange man with a knife in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Japan. The murderer is currently at large. The Consulate General in Osaka immediately contacted the Japanese police to express its sympathy and concern for the injured tourist and requested the Japanese side to arrest the suspect as soon as possible and punish the murderer severely."
