Golden Harvest Cinemas announced today (June 4) that its MegaBox location in Kowloon Bay will cease operations on June 9 following the expiration of its lease. The cinema chain has prepared special farewell screenings and discounts to thank patrons.
Farewell Events & Offers (June 8 Only):
- Mystery Classic Film Screening: Final show at the main auditorium featuring a surprise classic film
- IMAX Closing Show: Tickets priced at HK$40 for the last IMAX screening
- Commemorative Gift: Attendees of both final screenings will receive a limited-edition "Golden Harvest MegaBox commemorative card" (details on ticket sales to follow)
- Concession Deals: Specified combo meals and select snack bar items available from HK$40
Post-Closure Offer (June 9–30):
Patrons presenting any dated ticket stub from Golden Harvest MegaBox can enjoy HK$10 off with a minimum spend of HK$65 at concession stands of any other Golden Harvest cinema.
The cinema chain expressed gratitude to MegaBox patrons, stating: "We sincerely thank all our Golden Harvest MegaBox supporters and look forward to welcoming you at our other locations."
This marks Golden Harvest's sixth cinema closure since November 2023, following exits from locations in Fanling, Kai Tak, Whampoa, V Walk, and Ocean. After June 9, the chain will operate just four remaining cinemas across Hong Kong.
